Busy day at the Cauldron ...

Blessings to one and all!

Yesterday saw the Cauldron transform into a hive of activity, with hours of baking fun, in celebration of Lughnasadh (Lammas).

A pagan celebration which marks the turning of the wheel, of summer into autumn, and a time for giving thanks for the bountiful harvest, that we hope our hard work and the Earth will provide. It is a time to reap the rewards of what we have sown, both physically and metaphorically, and is the first of the three harvest celebrations, in our calendar, with Mabon and Samhain yet to come.

On cue, they also decided to start harvesting the barley from the fields that surround us, most of which will see its way into the creation of many alcoholic beverages, I'm sure.

It looks like we'll get to make our Corn Dollies a earlier, this year!

As you can see, for all the hours of baking, there is not much left of the Bailey's & Coffee cakes or the Lemon Drizzles that were made. I don't see what is left lasting much longer, either!

In addition to all the baking, we had some fun creating these pendants / key fobs with oven baked clay. (My poor oven hasn't worked so hard in one day, not since Litha anyway!)

The group on the left are plain clay, whilst the ones on the right are banded throughout with night glow clay, which look amazing in the dark!

Some are quite spooky, and with Samhain drawing ever closer, they could prove to be popular additions to many a fancy dress costume.

It's a real shame that I can't show you any images of them in the dark, sadly, neither my camera nor my skills are up to that task.

Have a blessed day,

Willow
