Harvest Season - From the garden.

The Harvest season is well underway this week. The wheat fields are being reduce to stubble as I type and the maze fields will be next. I wonder if the farmer still leaves a few complete stalks for making 'Corn Dollies'?

On the home front, Little Miss and myself started the week by harvesting the first crop of potatoes and beetroots grown in our new home. We have been picking our strawberries for over a month and still have plenty yet to ripen along with tomatoes peppers and lettuce. The rhubarb is proving to be a little stubborn, but that shouldn't take much longer.

It's time to tidy up the garden too. Weeding makes for a great opportunity, not only to gather seeds for next years growth, but also to have fun with Little Miss exploring and identifying the variety of flowers, plants and herbs already established.  From the flower garden, we have been harvesting seeds from many plants and flowers. Poppy, Lavender and Sweet Pea to name but a few. from the herb garden we have collected seeds from Parsley, Fenugreek, White Mustard and Rocket Cress so far.

We are looking forward to seeing what bounty our Hedge Hunt produces in a couple of days. I, for one, can't wait to collect Rosehips etc. and start making my own Rosehip Syrup in readiness for the Winter Season.

Blessed be,

Willow
